  The image of the saint is taken out of its chapel and paraded through the streets of the town. The celebrations include other events, such as the traditional competition to choose the best “gachas de San Arcadio”, a delicious sweet dish typical of the local cuisine.

  Puente-Genil has solemnly celebrated the day of Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción ever since the residents of the old city chose this representation of the Virgin Mary to be the Patrona de la Villa (patron saint of the town) in 1650.
