Place: Estepa
There is documentary evidence that religious brotherhoods existed in Estepa as long ago as the beginning of the 16th century.
The Easter processions in the town have not altered much over the centuries, merely adapting to the times. Today two different forms of procession can be distinguished: one marked by silence and solemnity, and the other by richness and exuberance. Both, however, excite the same degree of religious fervour and enthusiasm. And, naturally, these manifestations of faith and culture play a major role in making Easter Week in Estepa very special indeed.
