A history stretching back over more than a thousand years, just like that of its sparkling golden olive oil. The peaceful coexistence of the different philosophies and civilizations which have flourished in Baena is manifest in both its past and its present.
Here, ancient traditions have been conserved down through the centuries as a living testimony to the History, Art and Culture just waiting to engulf visitors to the town.
This white town cascades down a hill of narrow winding streets, between Seville’s campiña and Cordoba’s Subbetic foothills.
Baena lies in the southeastern part of the province of Cordoba close to the provinces of Jaen and Granada. It is traversed by the N-432, the major highway linking Cordoba and Granada, and it also stands directly on the route of the bus services connecting those two cities.
