  The image of the Virgin Mary in Her representation as la Virgen del Carmen is paraded through the streets and there is a party. The streets of the Almedina quarter of the town (specifically, the Plaza Palacio) are carpeted with coloured sawdust and decorated with flowerpots, flowers and Manila shawls.
