Cabra’s skilled stone-masons have acquired great expertise in shaping the stone and red marble found in the surrounding mountains to create marvellously crafted fountains, balconies, balustrades, columns and facades and carry out refined restoration work on old buildings.
Another time-honoured local skill is the manufacturing of capachos – baskets made of esparto grass and used for harvesting olives – by craftsmen called capacheros.
But the traditional craft for which Cabra is best known is probably candlemaking, an activity once again associated with Easter Week and religious celebrations
