Folklore And Tradition

Folklore and tradition

One of the most deeprooted examples of folklore in Cabra is the “Mudanzas”, a typical dance that used to be performed in the orchards at sunset to a fandango-like guitar accompaniment.

At Christmas, singers called “mochileros” walk around the streets performing an autochthonous type of Christmas carol with distinctive music and lyrics. Some of these songs have their origin in Sephardic tradition.

At Carnival time, different carnival groups delight audiences with their satirical lyrics. Some of them take part in the official carnival competition while others perform in the streets.

The September Fair includes the Battle of the Flowers, on 5th September, with traditional festivities in the evenings and the horse parade at midday.
