THE PASSION TRAILS: feel the passion

The town has a deeply rooted religious tradition which begins in Lent, with cultural events which attract large crowds. Écija’s Easter week celebrations are particularly important within the context of the province.

The extremely high artistic quality of the images used by the Religious Brotherhood’s in their processions make these celebrations very attractive for lovers of art and culture.

In Lent and Easter you can enjoy everything Écija has to offer: musical concerts, “saeta” folk song competitions, convent patisserie, guided tours of the town, etc.

On 25 January there is a procession to celebrate the patron saint of Écija, San Pablo Apóstol.

On 8 September there is a lavish procession to celebrate the town’s patroness, Nuestra Señora del Valle, which is famous throughout the region.
