Lying in the very heart of Andalusia, Estepa is the direct result of the different cultures which have made the area their home during the course of its history. The strategic importance of its location has been appreciated since time immemorial, and has induced Ancient Iberians, Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths and Moors all to establish settlements here.
The castle, towering above the village from the monumental complex atop the Cerro de San Cristóbal, offers such a sweeping, spectacular view of the surrounding countryside that the spot is known as the Balcón de Andalucía, the “Balcony of Andalusia”.
Estepa is truly delightful – both for its famous sweet pastries and for its people.
Located in the southeastern part of the province of Seville, near the boundary with the provinces of Cordoba and Malaga, Estepa is within a stone’s throw of the major towns and cities in Andalusia. It is traversed by the A-92, Andalusia’s principal highway, and is well connected by a number of bus services.
